Here are the surnames of people connected with Russia. Some are prezent on our site, some are with genealogical information, some with contact information of their reprezentatives. Everything is in Russian. I won't translate it for you - it is a very big site and webmastering it takes a lot of time, but you can try any autotranslating service or find a person who knows Russian..

You can post your search message on the messageboard. I understand that it is difficult for a person who don't know Russian (there is a Russian interface there), but you can try.
When you get there, you can push the left red-brown square button:
In the upper line you are to write the head of your message. On the third line you are to write your name, or you can leave the word Guest there. Write nothing on the fourth line. And write you message in the lowest square. The message will be posted when you'll push the left lower square gray button on which it is written something like OTIIPABNTL. Don't forget to write your contact information, so that people could answer you somehow. Or you can remember the address of your message (when it appears) and vizit it to look if somebody answered.
If you wont'manage, we can post your message on this page or on the messageboard. It's free. Write Stas at email@example.com and he'll post it, maybe not immediately.

Dear friend, my birth name is Irina Dimitrevna Imshenetskaya, I was born in San Francisco, California in 1937. I would like very much to research my family history. My father's name was Dimitri Michalovich (born in St. Petersburg in 1903) and his father was Michael Michalovich. My paternal grandmother was Raisa Sochava and her father (whose name I do not know) was a physician. My father told me that his grandfather, the physician, was awarded some honors by the USSR for his work with peasants and a monument was erected somewhere in Russia. I would also like to learn where this is. My mother's name was Avgusta Aleksandrovna Zacharuya, (born in Siberia in 1911, I think in Vladivostok). Her father was Aleksandr Aleksandrovich and her mother was Valentina Michalovna Troofonava. Any help you can give me in my research would be greatly appreciated. You can reach me through my daughter's e-mail address "email@example.com". I can read Russian and speak Russian fluently, however I do not know how to type in Russian and my written skills are poor. Thank you for your consideration and help. With wishes for world peace, Irene Durham (October 2002).

I am searching for the family of my great great great grandmother Elisabetha Zasetskaia (c1828- 1883). The family legend is that she fled from Russia (or Poland?) in the 19th century. The family settled in France. She apparently had an uncle who was a Colonel in the Russian Army. I have photos of her and her uncle and would be delighted to correspond with any Zasetsky researchers. Hello. I and several family members are researching my father's mother's family. We have come to a dead end. We know that they came to the United States around 1901. My great-grandfather was Joseph Zavatsky and his wife was Josephine (English spelling) Stasevich. Joseph had two brothers Kasis and Michel and a sister Ona who came to the United States after (we think) Joseph and Josephine. There were four children: Nellie, born in 1899 in Lithuania; John, born in 1900 in Lithuania; Isabelle, born in 1904 in Minersville, Pennsylvania; and Stanley, born in 1906 in Minersville. We have a photo of Josephine that is labeled (by Nellie as "my mother Josephine") and other photos of Ona's wedding in Russia but we don't know who the participants are. Ona married a Kulpcavage, a Russian military officer.Any information that could be supplied would be greatly appreciated by John's son, Ona's niece, and Isabelle's granddaughter. email@example.com (April 2003).

I have been searching for some names everywhere. I have very little to go on. Would it be possible for any one to help me with my family who came from Warsaw Russia, pre 1890. Or maybe you could suggest where to look?
My great Grandfather: Lajzar (Lazare/Leon) Wolf Zechanovetzki, born 1865 ( I hink Warsaw, Russia) Died new York 1916. (the name was shortened to Zecha in 1932 by Lazare's children) Lazare was in New York (I am not sure how he got here), when his wife and 4 children came. Sarah (Lazare's wife) and 3 of the children Simon(my Grandfather), Henry, and Sophie, (thru Ellis Island on the ship Lusitania,in 1914 out of England). the last sister, Mary came over on a different ship alone at 14 yrs old, . She didn't come with the rest of the family, this I can't figure out why? (my brother swears he saw a number tattoo on one of my grandfather's sister's arm when my brother was very young) I have never seen this or any other family members mention this. From old documents I have, the family went to Paris in 1894 (approximately) from Warsaw. they became French citizens. his wife Sarah Rebecca Wunthaler (AKA Wundhailer)(AKA Wuntheiler) Kuterchvitch, born 1877 Warsaw Russia, died ? in New York many years later I know she lived at least till 1945. She married a good man Morris Friedman 1921 after Lazare died. Her mother was named Zelda Kuterchvitch, her father was Morris Wunthaler. In Warsaw, Lazare and Sarah lived at Warsaw house number 2234 where my grandfather was born. I have very little information on Lazare's background. and a few scraps of Sarah's. I do know either an uncle or brother of Sarah's was in a concentration camp he did have the tattoo of numbers. his name was Alexander (Alex) Wunthaler, he was a mathematician and taught at a university in Chicago around 1950 (maybe University of Chicago). His story I do not know, I would like to know everything I can about my family and what they lived through. this information I have, came from some old documents I have recently received and thru some family members. So the names I will need help with are: Zechanovetzki/Zecha, Wolf?, Wunthaler, Kuterchvitch. Thank You, Lisa D'Ambrosio. firstname.lastname@example.org (January 2003).
I would like to look for my relatives abroad, and add my family name into the list of names in English. My name is Vladimir Valerievich Zemsha. Contacts : +375-17-2068608. email@example.com (January 2003)
Trying to find any & all info relating to the lineage of the Zelent family name on the Russian side. Have so far been unsuccessful tracing the family name back past it's US history. Any info please contact Stan Zelent at firstname.lastname@example.org. (January 2003)
I am searching for ancestors from Russia. My maternal great-grandfather, Gregor Zelinka, came to America, probably early in the 1900s. I believe that his date of birth was 5 Nov 1881. Other than the name of his wife, Anna Diballa (and I believe he married her in the US), and date and location of his death, we have very little information about this ancestor. I would appreciate finding out any more information that I can. Thank you very much for any help that you could provide. Sincerely, Sherrie Tallman Tallman.Sherrie@dorseylaw.com (January 2003).

My great grandmother was Fannie Zuckerman from the Ukraine. She married John Sherman. I don't know if the first name of John is accurate. The family was Jewish. My information is that they lived on
a farm, but that's all I know. They had at least three children, possibly more. Their children were Anna Sherman (my grandmother), two sisters Freida and Pauline, and a brother Nathan. Anna was born in 1/?/1897. Her death certificate lists Russia as place of birth. Anna immigrated to the U.S. (NYC) prior to 1925. Pauline, Freida, and Nathan also immigrated, but I'm not certain if they came at the same time. Their parents remained behind. Any iformation or suspected connections would be appreciated. Ellen Lee. firstname.lastname@example.org (September 2002).
